About the Role:
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for working in secondary education? We're seeking a skilled Teaching Assistant to support a diverse and inclusive secondary school in Waltham Forest, known for its commitment to creating an engaging and supportive environment for both students and staff. Located in a well-connected area with great access to public transport, this school is an excellent place to apply your expertise and make a lasting impact on students' lives.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide personalised support for students, working both 1:1 and in small groups, helping them to overcome challenges and stay engaged in their learning
  • Assist in the development and implementation of learning plans for students with SEN and additional needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a positive and effective learning environment, helping students achieve academic and personal goals
  • Offer support for students facing social or behavioural challenges, fostering confidence, independence, and motivation
  • Monitor and document student progress, contributing to review meetings and adjustments in support strategies
  • Actively participate in school life, from assisting with extra-curricular activities to supporting school events and initiatives

Key Skills and Experience Needed:

  • Proven experience in a secondary school or similar educational setting
  • Knowledge and experience supporting students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and other learning needs
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt and respond to changing student needs
  • Effective communication skills to work closely with students, teachers, and parents
  • A positive, encouraging approach, with a genuine passion for helping students succeed

Desirable Skills:

  • Training in specific SEN strategies and experience with behaviour management techniques
  • Familiarity with safeguarding procedures within a school environment

Position Details:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • £95 - £105 per day, term time only
  • Located in Waltham Forest, London, with easy access to public transport
  • Immediate start, with the potential for a long-term commitment
