Job Overview
Rikama Education is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Southwark. In this role, you will support the teaching and learning across a range of subjects and year groups, working closely with both students and staff to create a positive and engaging classroom environment. Your main responsibilities will include supporting students in their academic progress, assisting with classroom management, and helping to facilitate a dynamic learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
Support Classroom Learning: Assist the teacher in delivering lessons and providing one-to-one or small group support to students as needed.
Encourage Student Development: Help students with their academic tasks, promoting understanding and encouraging independent learning.
Classroom Management: Support the teacher in maintaining a focused, productive classroom environment, ensuring students are engaged and following instructions.
- Provide Pastoral Support: Build strong, positive relationships with students to foster their emotional and social development.
- Assist with Classroom Preparation: Help with the preparation of teaching resources, classroom displays, and activities to support lesson delivery.
- Track Student Progress: Help monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and supporting with classroom reports.
- Key Requirements
- Experience in Education: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational role is preferred, but not essential.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Team Player: A collaborative approach to working within a team, assisting the teacher and other staff members to deliver the best learning experience.
- Adaptability: Ability to work with students of all abilities and adapt to different teaching styles and classroom environments.
- Patient and Supportive: A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children, encouraging their personal and academic growth.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience
Relevant Qualifications: Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is desirable, though not essential.
Experience in Primary or Secondary Education: Previous experience in either primary or secondary education is an advantage, depending on the year group you'll be supporting.
First Aid/Other Certifications: A current first aid qualification or other relevant training is beneficial.
