About the Role:
Long Term Futures is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in Newham. This role focuses on supporting students across a range of subjects, with a particular emphasis on English and Maths, ensuring all students achieve their best.
The ideal candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and the ability to engage and motivate students effectively. Your role will involve working closely with class teachers to deliver targeted support and challenge students to excel in their learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students, particularly in English and Maths
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons across core and foundation subjects
- Adapt learning materials to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring everyone can access the curriculum
- Monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to intervention plans
- Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and a positive attitude toward learning
- Act as a mentor, helping students stay motivated and achieve their academic potential
What We're Looking For:
- Strong subject knowledge in English and Maths, with the ability to support students across multiple subjects
- Experience working with secondary school students in an educational setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and staff
- A proactive, adaptable approach, with the ability to engage and motivate learners
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Trial Period:
The successful candidate will need to showcase their ability to engage and challenge students effectively during a trial day at the school.
Additional Information:
- Full-time role, Monday to Friday
- Paid up to 110 per day, term time only
- Based in Newham, London - with excellent transport links
- Immediate start, with potential for long-term placement
