Job Advertisement: Teaching Assistant - Supporting a Child with Autism in Year 1

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team and work closely with a Year 1 child with autism in a vibrant primary school located in Shepherd's Bush. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child's education and development within a supportive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored one-to-one support to a child with autism, ensuring their emotional, social, and academic needs are met.
- Assist the child in accessing the curriculum and adapting learning materials where necessary.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement and review the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Encourage and promote independence and confidence in the child's daily activities.
- Support the child during transitions and unstructured times, such as playtime and lunchtimes.
About You:

- Passionate about working with children and supporting their development.
- Patient, empathetic, and understanding of the needs of children with autism.
- A team player who is proactive, reliable, and adaptable.
- Familiar with autism-friendly strategies and approaches, or eager to learn them.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children, particularly those with additional needs.
- A good understanding of autism and how it can impact learning and behavior.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build a trusting and positive relationship with the child and their family.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Autism Awareness training).
- Previous experience in a similar role or setting.
