Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Behaviour Support - Year 1 - Haringey Primary School - ASAP Start
An inclusive and nurturing primary school in the heart of North London, Haringey, is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 1 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role requires someone with experience supporting behaviour and emotional regulation, as the pupil occasionally needs to be supported in a separate room to help calm down.
Teaching Assistant - Role Overview:
Provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil with ASD and behavioural needs.
Use de-escalation strategies and calming techniques when needed in a quiet setting.
Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the child is supported throughout the day.
Assist with transitions, routine, and engaging the pupil in lessons and social interaction.
Teaching Assistant - Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant supporting pupils with ASD or behavioural needs.
Calm, patient, and resilient with strong behaviour management strategies.
Confident working independently with a child while being part of the wider classroom team.
Available to start immediately and commit to a long-term role through July 2025.
