1:1 Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about making a difference in a child's life? We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a young child in KS1 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their mainstream primary school in Streatham, Lambeth.

The school are looking for an experienced teaching assistant to join their school after October half term, until the end of the academic year. The role will be Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to a child with ASD, ensuring they feel safe, understood, and able to engage in learning.
  • Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour, social interaction, and academic progress.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure the child's individual needs are met.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing environment, encouraging independence and self-confidence.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to build a trusting relationship with the child and adapt to their unique needs.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and ensuring every child can thrive in the classroom.
