A nurturing primary school in North London is seeking a skilled Teaching Assistant for a rewarding long-term role supporting a Year 4 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This young boy has high emotional needs, though he is not physical. The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant with prior experience in supporting students with similar needs who can provide calm, consistent guidance and build a trusting rapport.
Teaching Assistant Role Overview:
- Provide 1:1 emotional and academic support to a Year 4 pupil with ASC, helping him navigate daily challenges and promoting a positive learning experience.
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher to develop tailored activities that nurture the pupil's emotional well-being and engagement in school life.
- Offer broader Teaching Assistant support within the classroom as needed, contributing to a warm and inclusive environment for all students.
- Develop and maintain strong communication with staff and parents, supporting the student's ongoing development both socially and academically.
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant supporting children with ASC and high emotional needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach that builds confidence and provides a stable foundation for learning.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt quickly within the classroom.
