University Porter

  • Location: East London
  • Job Type: Full-Time
  • Working Hours: 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a dedicated University Porter to join our team in East London. This full-time role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe environment for the students and staff.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • To distribute /move a wide range of parcels, bulk, and heavy deliveries, both internally and externally, to meet customer requirements. This can include Janitorial supplies, cleaning supplies, stationery and reprographics orders, furniture, laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • To carry out office moves
  • To prepare classrooms, teaching rooms and lecture venues for use. Duties include moving tables, chairs and setting up furniture  for examinations and teaching sessions.
  • To dispose of bulk waste from the campus, this will include clinical waste sacks and bins, disposal of Ad-hoc waste and the disposal of confidential waste and recyclable waste through the approved scheme.
  • In occasion you will be asked to do mail runs as we work as one team with the team Post room.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning.
  • Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and work ethic.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
