About the Role:

I am looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Attendance Officer for a secondary school in South West London. This is a temporary position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. As an Attendance Officer, you will play a crucial role in promoting good attendance practices and helping to reduce absenteeism within the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring Attendance: Accurately recording and monitoring student attendance, following up on absences, and maintaining detailed records.
  • Communication: Liaising with parents, guardians, and staff to address attendance issues and provide support where needed.
  • Reporting: Preparing and presenting attendance reports to senior leadership, working closely with the pastoral team, and using SIMS (School Information Management System) to manage and analyze attendance data.
  • Intervention: Implementing strategies to improve attendance and punctuality, and working with students to address barriers to regular attendance.
  • Compliance: Ensuring the school meets legal and procedural requirements related to attendance and safeguarding.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Previous experience in an educational setting, preferably within an attendance or administrative role.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using school management information systems (MIS) and MS Office.
  • Attributes: A proactive and empathetic approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. High attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.
  • DBS Check: Must hold an Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to undergo the process.
