Reed HR is looking to work with a Charity on a permanent placement for a Director of Human Resources.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic People Management
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
- Foster a high-performance culture, recognising high performers and supporting poor performers.
- Lead specific activities like Board salary reviews, Director recruitment, Trade Union management, pension negotiations, and incident reporting.
- Collaborate with the Leadership Team to promote a positive, values-based culture.
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead HR functions including organisational development, workforce planning, employee relations, diversity, inclusion, cultural change, reward, well-being, learning, performance, talent management, and global mobility.
- Mentor and manage an HR team, delegating tasks and providing guidance.
- Provide operational HR support and manage a HR budget.
Strategic Development
- Develop and implement HR strategies reflecting the charity's needs and best practices.
- Contribute to the business plan and operational framework.
- Lead resourcing strategies and HR projects, promoting a culture of learning and excellence.
- Oversee EDI initiatives.
Safeguarding Function
- Serve as Deputy Safeguarding Officer, ensuring up-to-date safeguarding policies and training.
Policy and Legislation
- Develop operational policies that meet legal requirements and promote better management.
- Stay informed on HR trends and challenges.
Relationships and Influence
- Communicate and negotiate to influence organisational culture and behaviours.
- Coach and advise senior leaders, manage Trade Union relationships, and represent the charity externally.
Other Duties
- Undertake additional duties as requested.
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential
- CIPD qualified (or working towards it) with relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Strategic thinking and alignment of HR initiatives with business objectives.
- Passion for EDI
Desirable
- Degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
- CIPD Chartered Fellow status.
- Data analysis and reporting skills.
- Strategic leadership and team management experience.
- Experience in inclusive talent practices.
