We are seeking an ER Casework Officer for an immediate start in an ongoing temporary position for our public sector client. The role requires someone with a solid understanding of workplace adjustments, shared inbox management, and handling low-level ER cases. This position is ideal for individuals who excel in communication and have experience in advising on a range of ER cases including probation, disciplinary, capability, resolution, and sickness absence.

The successful candidate must have advisory experience, at least 5 years in an HR advisory capacity with a strong knowledge of legislations and policies.  Will be confident talking to senior level stakeholders regarding HR processes.  This is not a management or generalist role but would suit someone with a strong HR Advisor background who could start working through a back log of cases confidently.  A background working within NFP / Charity or Public Sector is a requirement to this role.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage ER casework effectively, ensuring all cases are handled in line with relevant ER policies.
  • Review and update ER templates, including letters and guidance documents.
  • Responsible for notifying line managers who have triggered sickness procedures and supporting them with formal sickness meetings.
  • Send half pay/nil pay sick letters as required.
  • Support line managers with probation cases, particularly where employees are not meeting standards, and ensure notifications of any extensions are sent appropriately.
  • Assist in maternity risk assessment meetings and enquiries.
  • Maintain accurate trackers for ER casework and workplace adjustments.
  • Manage the ER inbox, ensuring timely responses and proper case handling.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in ER casework, particularly in advising on probation, disciplinary, capability, resolution, and sickness absence.
  • Strong ability to manage shared inboxes and maintain organisational trackers.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of supporting line managers and handling sensitive information.
  • Proficient in updating and maintaining ER documentation and templates.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
