Venn Group are working with a local authority client in London to recruit a Patching Engineer (Windows 10/11) on an initial 3 month contract.

The role is inside IR35 and requires an onsite presence across multiple sites in London.

The Patch Management professional will oversee the patching and update to Windows 11 for systems, applications, and device firmware across all partners organisations.

This involves ensuring the timely deployment of patches, minimising system downtime, maintaining compliance with security standards, and addressing any issues that arise during the process.

The ideal candidate will have experience of Qualys Patch Management and Windows Autopatch.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deploy, and validate patches for Windows Servers and Azure-based systems
  • Monitor and assess the impact of patches on system performance
  • Managing and deploying patches and updates to Windows systems and applications across all organisations
  • Resolving issues arising from patch deployments and update failures
  • Conducting regular audits of patch levels and system statuses
  • Evaluate new Intune features and capabilities, recommending adoption where appropriate
  • Accurately and clearly document the process, fixes to technical issues and update the IT knowledge base

Essential and desirable skills:

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft patching schedules & methods
  • Experience of patch management with Qualys, Intune Autopatch and Azure update manager
  • Experience in generating and analysing reports on patch management activities and system compliance is essential
  • Familiar with working with agent procedures and policy management within Qualys
  • Understanding of CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures), CVSS (Common Vulnerability Scoring System), threats, risks, and zero-day vulnerabilities is crucial
  • Able to collaborate with the IT Security team to schedule and coordinate patch deployments
  • Ability to use PowerShell for automating tasks, managing systems, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Windows 365 and AVD patching will be beneficial
