The company:
This is a rare chance to get your foot in the door at a high-frequency trading firm. Established over 20 years ago, my client is a well-respected name in the market. This isn’t a corporate grad scheme, it’s a hands-on role where you’ll get real exposure to live trading systems, work directly with traders and see exactly how your work impacts the desk.
You don’t need to know everything about trading, but you do need to be curious, switched on, and happy to work out-of-hours shifts. In return, you’ll learn how a high-frequency trading firm really runs — with full system access from day one. The kind of experience that’s hard to get early in your career.
The role:
You’ll play a critical part in keeping algorithmic trading systems running smoothly across global markets. You’ll work closely with developers, traders, and infrastructure teams to monitor system health, spot issues early, and act fast when something breaks.
What this role is really about:
This is about being calm under pressure when a system alert kicks off. You’re the first line of defence, spotting problems before anyone else and deciding what to fix and what to escalate.
You’ll work directly with traders and developers, so clear communication and owning problems until they’re solved is a big part of the job.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Monitoring:Proactively monitor live trading systems, respond to alerts, and escalate where needed.
- Shift Work:Rotate weekly between morning and evening shifts to maintain full global coverage.
- Operational Support:Support internal trading applications and troubleshoot issues with developers.
- Incident Management:Respond fast to incidents, follow clear processes (including potential kill switch activation).
- Deployments:Help roll out software and infrastructure updates.
- Trade Reconciliation:Check trades reconcile correctly across systems and counterparties.
- Process Improvement:Spot and automate repetitive operational processes where possible.
What they’re looking for:
- 1+ year experience in a technical support, infrastructure support or operations engineer role (finance/trading environment a plus, but not essential).
- Comfortable with Windows & Linux.
- Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar) would be useful.
- Basic understanding of trading systems, order flow or market data — or at least a strong interest in learning.
- Happy with rotating shifts — this is non-negotiable.
This is shift work, covering global trading hours:
- Morning shift: 07:00-15:30 (in the office)
- Evening shift: 14:30-23:00 (from home)
- Shifts rotate every week
What’s on offer:
- Competitive salary + bonus.
- Strong benefits package (pension, private healthcare, gym membership).
- Direct exposure to traders and developers in a flat, collaborative team.
- Real hands-on learning in a live trading environment — you won’t be stuck shadowing.
- Fast hiring process — if you’re the right fit, they move quickly.
