Location: We operate a flexible, hybrid working environment with the candidate required to travel to either our Winchester, Emley Moor or London office once or twice a week.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the overarching management, design and configuration of IP solutions across Arqiva’, working closely with Arqiva’s Microwave and Datacentre design teams when required.
  • Responsible for the design governance standards across Networks and Security platforms for IP, Security, Microwave, Nimbra and Datacentre solutions
  • Responsible for overarching management and performance of Arqiva’s IP Network Platforms, owns platform design governance with project teams and product teams to ensure performance is maintained
  • Accountable for system management ensuring version and hardware is in date and supported. Contribute to strategic roadmap, provide business case for network upgrades to maintain performance via Maintenance Capex Program and deliver programs as required
  • Managing 3rd party suppliers and partners to ensure that support and services of Arqiva infrastructure are supported and in line with our support contract and budgeted maintenance spend of £5 - 6M
  • Responsible for managing communications between project managers and Network & Security Platforms to ensure efficient delivery of platforms and services. Managing competing resource demands across Network & Security Platforms to ensure we meet our project milestones and designs
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance within the Design team(s), acting as point of contact for escalated issues
  • Ensure all designs meet the architecture standards, and security requirements and have been approved at appropriate Design boards
  • Continuous improvement of processes through workflows and systems development to achieve faster, more accurate, and more efficient outcomes.
  • Owns problem management effectiveness, risk management, and leads business case preparation. Constructively supports and challenges root cause to embed lessons learned, investigating complex technical issues and implementing appropriate resolutions to maintain and or enhance performance
  • Leads team of engineering expertise, inspiring engagement through demonstrating ownership and accountability. Promotes a continual improvement bias, through team objectives, focus areas, team action plans, process improvements, tool investment, workflow simplification and blocker removals.
  • Accountable for Performance and Availability of relevant Network Assets by design
  • Accountable for Active Asset Management Lifecycle, including Total Cost of Ownership, Roadmaps, Asset Health Tracking, Quality Assurance, Build and Test Standards, Maintenance Policy, Release Management of Software Upgrades, Capex Forecasting etc.
  • Owns and publishes Design Policy and Standards and Testing Guidance for Network Platforms.
  • Responsible for Team Performance against business agreed KPIs; including Problem Age, Design Governance Gates, Test Outcomes and Asset Availability
  • Provides reasoned technical challenge to SMEs and stakeholders to ensure solutions are cost effective, quality assured and optimise productivity and efficiency;
  • Owns and actively manages risks relating to Assets in Technology Area; including risk assessment, mitigation actions, Exco/Director/Head reporting, Capital investment plans and Business Cases
  • Ownership of 3rd Party Roadmap and Professional Services Relationship
  • Ensures Safety first culture is embedded in the team; Promotes health and environment standards and policies and encourages vigilance in near miss reporting
  • Bring a commercial perspective to the operation, with a particular focus on cash management, cash preservation and optimising returns on investments made in assets and tools
  • Lead the continuous improvement of design policies, processes and procedures relating to own Technology arena.
  • Responsible for owning Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity assets relating to Technology Function and for ensuring their continued status, tracking, maintenance and availability.
  • Relentlessly seeks improvements across the business, proactively identifying cost efficiency and productivity improvements.

Qualifications: Either Bachelor of Engineering or relevant experience

Required Expertise:

  • Experience in Technical management role
  • Experience in setting the standards for processes and engineering practices related to area of expertise for platforms that support services.
  • Exceptional technical knowledge in IP and Microwave Network Infrastructure
  • A proven track record delivering high availability systems
  • Experience leading multi-disciplined technical teams, scheduling / prioritising tasks, and overseeing the delivery of technical projects
  • Extensive experience working with suppliers - both developing new services/capabilities and driving 3rd parties to resolve and fix functionality issues and errors.
  • Working knowledge of technology asset lifecycle management

Required Technical / Professional Skillset(s):

  • Strong knowledge of technologies relating to team function, including but not limited to IP & Microwave networking, BGP, OSPF, Multicast, public cloud.
  • Working knowledge of Service Now
