Job Description:

What you will be doing

?

  • Leading the infrastructure engineering team and outsourced vendors to build, run and improve our core IT infrastructure in line with the IT strategic plan.
  • Contributing to the core infrastructure strategy, in partnership with Group IT, encompassing architectural direction, initiative planning, technology selection and delivery approach.
  • Recruiting, leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of a high calibre infrastructure team with the skills and capabilities needed to deliver the required results.
  • Closely managing infrastructure team resource plans, balancing operations/support requirements with project delivery demands.
  • Overseeing and managing the regional infrastructure support (3rd line) queue ensuring all tickets are resolved/fulfilled within SLAs and all other KPIs are achieved.
  • Leading and coordinating infrastructure related major incident resolution, root cause analysis and problem management activities.
  • Ensuring all infrastructure services are managed and supported according to industry/vendor best practice, following defined processes and procedures and to meet agreed availability and KPIs.
  • Proactively seeking and delivering technical improvements in the areas of reliability, performance, availability, security, supportability or cost.
  • Implementing, managing and continuously tuning and optimising core infrastructure monitoring and management tools.
  • Overseeing and managing third party infrastructure vendors deliverables and performance, including regular service reviews.
  • Ensuring a holistic set of standard operating procedures and wikis are actively maintained and utilised for all in house and third party infrastructure support activities.
  • Ensuring effective DR and BCP plans exist to deliver the required RPOs and RTOs for core infrastructure services, including regular testing.
  • Working with the Group IT Infrastructure Architect to proposed architectural priorities and target state architecture for all core infrastructure services..
  • Ensuring (in conjunction with Group Cyber Security) that all infrastructure components are managed to the appropriate level of risk with respect to security patches, software/firmware revision levels and supplier supported versions.
  • Proactively managing the transition of new or updated infrastructure services/technologies into support, including appropriate staff training and development.
  • Delivering infrastructure related change management activities, ensuring the change management process is adhered to at all times and maintaining a forward schedule of change for all core infrastructure services.
  • Ensuring the necessary skills and experience levels are maintained within the team, relevant to the services/technologies being supported and processes being used.
  • Owning and overseeing the provision, management and reporting of IT core infrastructure assets, ensuring the effective control of all assets by both internal and third party engineering teams.
  • Providing periodic reporting and management information on Infrastructure delivery initiatives and operational KPIs.
  • Championing the adoption of ITIL best practice by the Infrastructure team and working with the Service Management team to identify and implement improvements.

Requirements

About you

?

  • Strong and up-to-date technical skills in the areas of managed networks (WAN, LAN, WiFi, VOIP), infrastructure applications and platforms (Active Directory, MS Azure), hosting and cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Recent hands on experience as an infrastructure engineering lead / manager in a customer centric, multi-site business with a strong reliance on high availability infrastructure.
  • Extensive experience of delivering and supporting enterprise scale networks including managed WAN/LAN, corporate/public WiFi and cloud based voice platforms.
  • Extensive hands on experience of managing Microsoft domains (Active Directory) and enterprise collaboration platforms (Office365).
  • Significant hands on experience of building and operating hybrid on premise/cloud infrastructure platforms with some previous experience of on-premise to cloud workload migrations.
  • Experience leading infrastructure engineering teams (inhouse'd and outsourced) through enterprise scale infrastructure transformation.
  • An excellent understanding of enterprise best practice infrastructure management, including use of automation/orchestration, telemetry, monitoring and logging.
  • Working knowledge of current and future cyber security threats and the best way to prevent these
  • Strong people leadership skills, keeping a team motivated and organized whilst balancing multiple delivery priorities with operational management and support.
  • High levels of energy, drive and resilience, with the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an inherent ability to effectively communicate with and influence others up to a senior level.
  • Drive and determination to continuously improve stability, security and customer satisfaction.
  • Minimum ITIL V3 Foundation certified and significant experience in ITIL aligned environments
