Role: Senior Network Engineer - Predominantly On-site

Reports to: Head of Infrastructure

Location: West London - Candidates must be located within 60-90 minutes commute to West London

Contract Duration: 12 months fixed term contract with the possibility to extend/convert to permanent contractLocation: This role is based in their office located in West London (potentially some hybrid working following successful induction/probation)Our client is a dynamic business within the Energy/Oil & Gas sector committed to the sustainable development of its assets in their international location. They value a collaborative approach, promote diversity, and prioritise safety and integrity in all our operations.We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join their IT team, playing a key role in maintaining and enhancing our global network infrastructure. You will ensure network stability, security, and efficiency across our operations while driving improvements and innovation.

*Essential experience with Arista Switches & (Firepower & Palo Alto).*

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Design & Implementation: Contribute to the development and execution of the Company's global networking roadmap.
  • Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Maintain, monitor, and resolve issues in the Company global network infrastructure.
  • Security & Incident Management: Act as the primary contact for network security events, analysing alerts, vulnerabilities, and potential threats.
  • Supplier & Vendor Management: Manage relationships with network service providers, ensuring optimal WAN, LAN, and hardware performance.
  • Configuration & Optimization: Create and modify configurations on Cisco/Arista Switches, Routers, and Firewalls (Firepower & Palo Alto).
  • Threat Analysis & Mitigation: Utilise threat intelligence services and security tools to identify and address vulnerabilities.
  • Automation & Scripting: Implement network automation using Python and Ansible for improved efficiency.
  • Technical Documentation & Training: Enhance documentation, train colleagues, and contribute to knowledge-sharing across teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of network design and implementation experience (Data Center, Campus, Wi-Fi, Security).
  • Expertise in routing, switching, and network architecture.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with network automation (Python, Ansible) (preferred).
  • Industry certifications (ACE 5-7, CCNA, CCIE) (preferred).
  • Experience in Azure networking and security (a plus).
  • Experience with Network Overlay and Virtualisation is highly desired
  • Enjoys research into emerging threats in the security landscape and identifying and analysing real-world threats
  • Able to do some international travel (approximately up to 4 times a year - 5 days - 2 weeks)
