Allen Lane are pleased to be supporting a London Borough with their search for a Senior Network Engineer on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to be involved in a significant amount of project work alongside BAU activities. You’ll be responsible for the data network service to users across the council.
The role
As a Senior Network Engineer you will:
- Use Network Management Software and analysis equipment to collect statistics and performance
- Write and review procedures and documentation for network support
- Investigate and diagnose complex network problems, working with internal/external stakeholders to resolve issues in a timely manner
- Ensure response and fix times are aligned with the network teams SLAs
- Analyse site survey reports and plan for installation and commissioning of hardware and software.
- Lead technical changes and identify service improvements to form recommendations as part of a continual service improvement plan
Key skills required
As a Senior Network Engineer you must have:
- Strong knowledge of OSPF and BGP routing protocols with DNS, DHCP and IPAM platforms
- Experience in supporting SDWAN, broadband and leased line circuits
- Significant working knowledge with firewalls such as : Cisco ASA and Palo Alto
- Expert understanding of subnetting, VLANs and associated routing protocols including VPN configuration
- Knowledge of wireless transmission planning
- Experience of troubleshooting Cisco devises and undertaking firmware updates
- A good appreciation of security threats and vulnerabilities to help detect, mitigate and resolve security incidents
- Significant experience in using network tools to review the health of the borough’s network
