Role Overview
Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, the Third Line Infrastructure Engineer serves as a senior member of the Infrastructure Team. The role requires handling escalated tickets, leading large-scale projects, and providing mentorship to junior staff. Responsibilities span various technologies, including firewalls, servers, networks, workstations, vendor-specific hardware, and software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert IT support for core business applications and operating systems
- Manage and support disaster recovery solutions
- Deliver advanced technical support for WAN/LAN connectivity, including routers, firewalls, and security
- Collaborate with the security team to ensure all solutions align with security policies
- Implement and support remote access solutions such as VPN
- Proactively monitor alerts and notifications, responding promptly through service tickets
- Create and maintain documentation for solutions, configurations, and procedures
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders regarding incident progress and potential outages
Essential Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience (or equivalent)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Strong proficiency in:
- Microsoft Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022
- Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
- Firewall administration (Watchguard, Cisco, SonicWall)
- Backup solutions (Veeam)
- Antivirus technologies (Sophos)
- Software deployment (Group Policy, MDM)
- Advanced Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, subnetting)
- Remote access technologies (VPN)
- HP ProLiant servers (including iLO configuration)
- Ubuntu Linux
- Virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V)
- Ability to multi-task, adapt to changes quickly, and provide outstanding customer care
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and 24/7 on-call escalation
Desirable
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCITP, CCNA)
- Familiarity with IP-based telephone systems
- Understanding of cloud technologies
Other Job Requirements
- Must be flexible with start and end times upon request
- Must be able to deal with escalated issues outside standard working hours
- Must attend work on site - FIVE days a week.
