My client is a leading Specialist Insurer and they seek a Data Governance Lead with previous London Insurance Market experience to join their City office and take responsibility for planning and driving the implementation of the organisation's data governance strategy.

The key purpose of this role is to manage organisation-wide data governance activities and you will have responsibility for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets.

The position will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards, consistency, practices and vision, both at the department and Business and Functional areas level, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs.

Promoting the role of data governance, mentoring and coaching the organisation to embed policy adherence into their own policies and procedures, following best practices.

You will also serve as a point of escalation for governance, data quality and protection issues and work closely with Business and Functional areas to improve the quality and value of core data assets, data consistency, respond to regulatory protection requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the department.

Required skills/ experience:

Strong experience as working in Data Governance / Quality domain
Exposure experience as working in Data Governance / Quality domain
Experience of working in the London Insurance market and possess high knowledge of key departments including Underwriting, Claims, Reinsurace, Actuarial and Finance functions.
Experience of developing Data Quality reporting process and supporting MI, knowledge of the key types of metrics and reporting KPI's needed to build out measurement and reporting.
Strong understanding of data management principles and data flow process and practices. Knowledge of (DAMA DMBOK) would be desirable.
Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection.
Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
Demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design.
Knowledge of Data Governance and Data Quality Tools and a recognised subject matter expert to influence the way things are undertaken.
