We are seeking an Engineering Delivery Lead & Data Project Manager to lead the analytic team in the Financial Services industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data project management and leadership skills to deliver technical projects.

Description

The successful Engineering Delivery Lead and Data Project Manager, will be responsible for:

Software Engineering Delivery Lead:

  • Lead and manage software development teams to deliver high-quality software solutions on time and within budget.

  • Coordinate with development teams to ensure effective implementation of software engineering best practices, including design, coding, testing, and deployment.

  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure milestones and deliverables are met.

  • Ensure technical risks are identified early and mitigated through proactive planning and sulutioning.

  • Foster a collaborative environment where teams can innovate, troubleshoot, and continuously improve.

Data Project Management:

  • Manage data-focused projects, overseeing the complete project lifecycle from inception through to successful delivery.

  • Ensure a comprehensive impact assessment and feasibility analysis are conducted before the project begins.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and schedules for data-related initiatives.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business SMEs, analysts, and engineers, to ensure the seamless integration of software solutions with data requirements.

  • Define clear project goals, scope, deliverables, and success criteria in alignment with business objectives.

  • Effectively manage the dependencies between the inter-linked projects/programmes ensuring that they each deliver the agreed outputs, whilst contributing towards the delivery of the overall programme outcome (All phases)

  • Control scope changes to ensure that any adjustments are formally agreed upon with the business and the PMO, with all impacts documented and managed.

  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including business leaders and clients, to manage expectations and ensure project alignment with organisational priorities.

  • Track, monitor, and report on project progress, budget, and resource allocation to ensure on-time delivery.

  • Ensure a smooth transition of projects into the production environment.

Profile

The successful Engineering Delivery Lead and Data Project Manager, will have:

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
  • While programming experience is a requirement for this role, further knowledge of DevOps practices and associated technologies (e.g. microservices, Google Cloud, Terraform) would also be an advantage.
  • Our teams consist of front-end and back-end engineers, UX designers, testers, and DevOps engineers. An understanding of the guiding practices and principles in any or all of these areas would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of SQL for data manipulation and reporting. Also, data warehousing concepts and tools such as Big Query.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Looker Studio, Power BI and Tableau)
  • Proven experience in both software engineering and project management is key, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.) and best practices.
  • Solid experience in managing and delivering complex data projects with a focus on data analytics, MIS reporting, governance, and integration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical and project management challenges.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical teams and business stakeholders, and convey information in a clear, easily digestible manner.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Excel & PowerPoint) and familiarity with data management platforms and technologies.

Desirable:

  • Candidates with exposure to the banking sector will be preferred.
  • PMP, Scrum Master, or similar project management certification.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, Azure) and data engineering tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and data privacy regulations.
