Job Title: Finance Data Product Owner Location: London (Hybrid Working, 3 days in office)Role Purpose & Objective:

  • To effectively manage the finance data and analytics strategy delivering key objectives that make better use of data and create focus on key priorities supporting the achievement of the finance business plan and broader strategic objectives within Aspen
  • Lead the day to day work to define and deliver the data structure required within finance systems for efficient and effective finance processes
  • Define data quality metrics and manage data quality to meet these metrics leading data remediation workstreams as required to address data quality issues
  • Develop a strategic approach to efficient report development and maintenance for a range of core reports for the finance team
  • Work with other functional data product owners to ensure effective integration of finance data requirements with the data requirements of other functions

Key Responsibilities:Strategy and Planning:

  • Contributes to the overarching data and Management Information strategic objectives as well as prioritising the operational deliverables and activities of the Finance data and analytics workstream
  • Provides expert knowledge and support to peers and the global Finance function to achieve positive results for the business in line with strategy
  • Actively contributes to the development, communication, and delivery of the vision for the Finance Data & analytics workstream to all members, inclusive of instilling Aspen's Principles and Values across the business
  • Lead on the remediation work required across various data entities to achieve effective analytics and reporting for Finance services
  • Deliver knowledge transfer and training to end users in the implementation and ongoing use of MI dashboards
  • Actively contributes to the development and achievement of data integrity across Aspen globally

Policy, Process and Procedures:

  • Identify current inefficiencies to reporting processes with the intention of creating replication and/or automation of regular reporting
  • Deliver greater accuracy and efficiency in report production through the design and implementation of governance and control measures
  • Provide Finance leadership with updates on data and analytics objectives
  • Provide appropriate level of governance, as well as documentation/training material for the specific work being undertaken, in line with professional standards and/or Aspen specific standards and regulatory requirements
  • Provide expert technical / theoretical support across Aspen globally, as appropriate

Technical Performance:

  • Analyse information and utilize finance data to produce standard and ad hoc reports to inform and advise in relation to Finance reporting needs
  • Develop, maintain and validate Finance data, reporting and procedures to ensure that these are aligned with business needs and fit for purpose - This is to include adopting efficient and consistent Finance models and processes and/or technologies where appropriate
  • Produce applicable Finance function reports
  • Produce, review and/or present Finance data & analytics to senior leadership team
  • Review and challenge the status quo and present findings and solutions to relevant Group Head and Finance leadership team as appropriate

Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus:

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to improve customer focus and to be the primary point contact for relevant business units in relation to finance data squad
  • Network within Finance functions, counterparts within data workstreams and Aspen colleagues globally to encourage the sharing and adopting of best practice
  • Actively participate in relevant internal and external meetings as required to develop and demonstrate knowledge of Aspen and its processes

People Management:

  • Manages and supports specific operational team(s) within own function / department or specialism to ensure that people, resources and processes are aligned with business needs and fit for purpose
  • Manage, resource, motivate, develop and focus the team(s) to ensure the required standards of performance and support the continuing personal and professional development of all team members
  • Manage appointment, dismissal, performance management and reward of the team(s) to effectively manage resources within the function
  • Establish clear accountabilities and authority levels for direct reports and build a strong culture of accountability and performance to ensure delivery of goals

Requirements & Skills:

  • Relevant degree / professional qualification
  • Extensive general experience in insurance industry involving data / analysis / systems / reporting / projects
  • Experience of working in a Risk related functional team within a multi-national insurance environment
  • Expert knowledge of data manipulation and data analytics
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to plan effectively and efficiently and manage conflicting priorities to achieve deadlines
  • Strong customer orientation skills
  • Ability to lead and manage through a team of senior professionals across a large and diverse entity
  • Ability to lead the development of strategy for the business
  • Ability to negotiate, persuade and influence both directly and indirectly
  • Exceptional commercial judgement
  • Strong reasoning capabilities - creative and lateral thinking, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to conceptualise and lead others in their use for solving specific problems
  • Excellent in the use and interpretation of numerical data
