What you’ll be doing

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager/Delivery Manager to lead a project team delivering Machine Vision software to a US Aerospace partner.You will be responsible for managing the project's scope, timeline, and budget.

The project aims to evaluate the commercial viability of existing Machine Vision software developed for computational engineering applications. The project aims to determine if the technology can be generalized and integrated into other software, ultimately leading to potential market-making opportunities.

This Project Manager will have the responsibility of the project's success in delivering the target outcome: evaluating if the software is of value to commercialise in the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight to ensure the project stays aligned with its commercial objectives.

  • Defining clear project scope and objectives in collaboration with technical stakeholders.

  • Establishing a robust project plan, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.

  • Managing a team of 5 UK-based technical stakeholders responsible for developing and refining the software.

  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships with the US Aerospace partner, as well as technical stakeholders in the UK.

  • Communicating effectively with various US-based non-technical stakeholders (investors, potential partners) to manage expectations and provide regular updates on progress.

  • Identifying and mitigating risks throughout the project lifecycle.

This role is for you if:

  • Project Management Expertise: Proven experience in managing complex projects within a technical environment, including defining scope, developing plans, allocating resources, tracking progress, and mitigating risks.

  • Stakeholder Management: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage both technical and non-technical stakeholders with varying expectations and priorities. Experience navigating challenging stakeholder relationships is crucial.

  • Delivery Focus: Demonstrated ability to maintain a laser focus on achieving project objectives within the defined timeframe (12 months), even if further development is required beyond this period.

  • Commercial Acumen: Understanding of market dynamics, product valuation, and investor expectations. Ability to translate technical advancements into demonstrable commercial value propositions for stakeholders.

  • Process: Very strong understanding and experience leading teams in Agile methodologies and delivery processes.

  • International Collaboration: Experience working with teams across geographical boundaries (UK/US) and navigating cultural differences in communication styles and differences in ways of working.

Ideally you’ll have:

  • Proven experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

  • Strong domain knowledge of startup IT, internationally distributed partnerships, and (EU/US ?) Aerospace industry trends.

  • Experience working with startups, preferably in the IT sector, and familiarity withStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks.
