Project Manager - Local Government - £500 per day (Outside IR35)

Salt Recruitment is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a Local Government body on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in improving operational performance and supporting the successful implementation of a transformative software system across the council.

The Role

As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading projects to enhance response times to complaints, FOIs, SARs, and Member Enquiries.
  • Collaborating with technical teams to ensure seamless software implementation while addressing operational needs, including training, staff engagement, culture change, and transition to business as usual.
  • Managing multiple project activities, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting project briefs, business cases, and key project documentation (e.g., PIDs, RAID logs).
  • Developing detailed project plans and schedules.
  • Overseeing resource allocation, stakeholder engagement, and benefits tracking.
  • Managing project budgets, governance, risks, and change processes.
  • Ensuring effective handover of project outputs and evaluation of success post-delivery.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Strong experience in Project Management within the public sector, ideally Local Government.
  • Expertise in project lifecycle management, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative approach and a "can-do" attitude.
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of social care, housing services, and equity issues in public service delivery.
  • Familiarity with commissioning and procurement processes.
