About the Role:We are seeking a Security Operations Lead/Manager to join our insurance client's team in a pivotal role overseeing their security operations. You will leverage your strong expertise in Microsoft Defender and Azure security products to lead the security efforts across the organization. This is a hands-on, leadership-focused position where you will steer a team of six, ensuring the continuous monitoring and strengthening of the company's security posture, particularly across application security, cloud security, and incident response.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage Security Operations (SOC), including Incident Response, Threat & Vulnerability Management, and Security Engineering.
  • Drive the implementation and management of security tooling in Microsoft Azure, such as Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Vulnerability Management, and Sentinel.
  • Coordinate the company's response to cyber events and security incidents, ensuring the effective remediation of vulnerabilities across the enterprise.
  • Shape security architecture by defining patterns and principles for secure service design at both the application and infrastructure levels.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure security is embedded within the software development lifecycle and continuously monitor the organization's cloud security posture.
  • Provide hands-on expertise in modern network practices, patch management, anti-virus, and overall technical security controls.

About You:

  • Strong experience working with Microsoft Defender and other native security tooling in Microsoft Azure.
  • Expertise in modern technology infrastructure and operations, including networks, operating systems, databases, firewalls, and VA/patch management.
  • A deep technical understanding of application security, cloud security control, and service design.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate security operations, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Experience in the insurance, insurtech, or financial services sectors is highly desirable.

Team Structure & Reporting:

  • You will report directly to Ben Threthowan and collaborate with a close-knit team of six.
  • This is a leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape the direction of security operations in a growing, dynamic environment.
