Contract Solution Architect -AWS | Inside IR35 | £650-£675 per day

Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Solution Architect with strong AWS expertise to join a high-profile digital transformation programme in the public sector. This role is critical in delivering robust technical solutions within a highly regulated environment, ensuring compliance, cost efficiency, and modernisation of legacy systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop roadmaps and architecture models, driving technical progress within an AWS-first environment.
• Lead technology selection and ensure solutions align with security, governance, and compliance requirements.
• Optimise solutions with a strong focus on FinOps, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
• Provide technical leadership, working closely with engineering teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
• Mentor and upskill internal teams, including civil servant architects.
• Navigate complex stakeholder environments, influencing decisions and maintaining strong relationships.

Required Experience

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect in agile, digital, and product-centric environments.
• Strong AWS knowledge, with expertise in cloud migration and modernisation of legacy systems.
• Hands-on experience delivering solutions in highly regulated environments.
• Experience working with event-driven architectures, ideally using Kafka.
• Ability to manage ambiguity and complexity, balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term strategy.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at multiple levels.

Desirable Skills

• Hands-on experience in cloud, software engineering leadership, cybersecurity, or AI/ML.
• Familiarity with data storage technologies and enterprise-level architecture disciplines.
• Experience working in a consultancy environment with a focus on stakeholder engagement.
