Design Technology (DT) Technician Opportunity in North London - September Start

Are you passionate about Design Technology and looking for a role in a dynamic secondary school? Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a secondary school in Haringey, North London, to recruit a DT Technician for the upcoming academic year. This exciting position begins immediately, subject to a successful trial day and interview, and will run for the full academic year.

Position: DT Technician

  • Salary: £14-£16 per hour
  • Hours: 8.15am - 4.00pm, Monday to Friday
  • Location: Haringey, North London

Key Responsibilities: As a DT Technician, you will play an essential role in supporting the Design Technology department by:

  • Assisting teachers with the preparation and setup of practical lessons and projects.
  • Managing and maintaining the DT workshop, equipment, and resources, ensuring a safe learning environment.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to students during their design and construction processes.
  • Organising stock, monitoring inventory, and ordering materials when needed.
  • Collaborating with teachers to create engaging, hands-on activities that inspire creativity among students.

Requirements: The school is keen to meet candidates with experience as a DT Technician in a secondary school or those with experience in a related field, such as engineering or art.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
  • Knowledge of 3D printing systems and techniques.
  • Experience handling various materials, including polymers, metals, and wood.
  • A passion for Design Technology and the ability to inspire students.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with the maintenance and safe use of DT tools and equipment.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Ideally, a Design-related degree or prior experience as a DT Technician in a school setting.
  • An enhanced DBS disclosure and professional reference checks.
  • A CV covering the last 10 years of employment history, where possible.
  • The legal right to work in the UK.
