Desktop Engineer - Hybrid Working - Outside IR35

Our client, a leading global Insurance firm, are currently looking to hire a Desktop Engineer to join the team on an Outside IR35 contract basis. This role would be hybrid working with the client site based in London.

Technical Skills & Experience Required:

  • Infrastructure knowledge - at least one year's experience as a Project Engineer, Service Desk or similar IT role
  • General understanding of Windows Operating Systems, especially Windows 10
  • Detailed knowledge of configuring and administering Windows operating systems
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities to ensure that solutions are delivered within an SLA
  • Collaborative with excellent communication skills - able to work closely with colleagues within IT and the wider business
  • Ability to communicate in a technical and non-technical manner depending on the audience
  • Ability to understand IT automation techniques
  • Self-confident, realistic about own capabilities and keen to learn
  • Enthusiastic and able to create new ideas and seeks continual improvement
  • Open to change and eager to embrace new opportunities
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good writing, verbal and comprehensive skills to write knowledge base articles and business communications

Technical Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Microsoft technologies such as SCCM, Intune and Autopilot processes
  • ITIL or Project Management skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Surface Laptops and Lenovo Laptops would be advantageous
  • Endpoint scripting (PowerShell) would be advantageous
  • Experience working with standard Microsoft cloud technologies such as Azure, M365, Azure AD & Intune

Role Requirements:

  • Demonstrate examples of similar successful positions in the past
  • Be highly collaborative with the current team, management structure and business leaders
  • Demonstrate a very high level of customer service and empathy for the customer issues
  • Worked in the insurance or financial services sector previously
  • Be an excellent all-round communicator through verbal and written communication
  • Must be willing to Travel domestically and internationally, at times for extended periods (up to 1 month at a time)
