A large fashion company are looking for a Garment Technologist to join their London team, based in the West End.  This role is ideal for a professional with experience in a technical role within the garment industry, the ideal candidate will have experience specialising in Jersey product with a strong understanding of pattern cutting, grading.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Create detailed workbooks for all styles, including construction methods, fit comments, and graded specifications.
  • Prepare garments for fit sessions, update workbooks, review construction, and components.
  • Lead fit sessions for new shapes, ensuring design vision is achieved.
  • Ensure all products meet the company’s fit and quality standards.
  • Communicate fit amendments and spec changes to suppliers with clarity, including images and annotations.
  • Advise on construction methods and techniques to improve product quality and cost.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Oversee the production process, addressing any issues that arise.
  • Approve shipment samples, testing, and AQL reports.
  • Provide wash care instructions and maintain departmental manuals.
  • Regularly review and update fit blocks and grades to stay competitive.
  • Monitor product returns, investigate high return rates, and implement solutions.
  • Keep track of critical path dates and liaise with production on potential delays.
  • Contribute to business strategy and initiatives across multiple departments.
  • Ensure compliance with testing and brand manuals, factory audits, and industry transparency legislation.
  • Support factories in achieving certification requirements and contribute to sustainability efforts.
  • Implement new systems and processes to streamline the technical function of the business.
