Renowned for their craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability, the company collaborates with clients to deliver timeless designs that balance functionality with elegance.As the company continues to grow, they are seeking a Head of Design to bring their design capabilities in-house and play a key role in driving the business forward.Responsibilities, but are not limited to

  • Oversee and optimise design department systems, processes, and standards to improve efficiency and quality
  • Schedule workloads, manage the design team, and ensure on-time project delivery
  • Estimate and track design hours for projects, ensuring accurate resource allocation
  • Mentor and inspire the design team, fostering professional growth and excellence
  • Conduct detailed site surveys to gather accurate inputs for design development
  • Collaborate with clients and directors to align design concepts with project goals
  • Present design proposals and detailed drawings to clients, directors, and production teams
  • Produce comprehensive design packs, including client and production drawings, sub-drawings, and CNC files for manufacturing
  • Maintain and update finishing schedules, procurement lists, and design documentation
  • Oversee material procurement and assist where required
  • Stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies to maintain a competitive edge

Experiences required

  • Proficiency in 3D modelling with SolidWorks is essential
  • Proven experience in furniture design, with a strong focus on joinery products
  • Expertise in creating detailed 2D technical drawing packs for manufacture (DFM)
  • Previous experience managing or coordinating design teams in a senior role
  • Familiarity with SWOOD is advantageous but not essential
