Lead Electrical & Automation Engineer (Owner’s Engineer) – Contract – London
Location: London
This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing global energy business during a period of continued growth in the Renewable Energy sector, with a particular focus on Hydrogen projects. The role would be as an Owner’s Engineer with responsibility of looking after multiple projects. Hydrogen project experience is essential.
The role is hybrid and will be based in London 3 days p/w and remote 2 days p/w.
The role is outside IR35.
Role & Responsibilities
- As Owners Engineer the role is responsible for overseeing the deliverables of FEED contractors on as well as being involved in high level engineering design, primarily in the hydrogen sector.
- Lead the design and integration of electrical systems and automation processes for the hydrogen project.
- Specify electrical systems, subsystems and components.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and contractors to ensure integration of electrical and automation systems.
- As Owners Engineer will also be responsible for packaging up scope of works for engineering contractors/vendors.
- Ensure QA standard compliance of all electrical and automation systems.
- Lead and participate system testing, commissioning, and validation.
- Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, manuals and reports.
- Use electrical expertise to support procurement process.
- Review (and create) electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
- Specify and Review PLCs, SCADA systems, and other automation equipment.
- Interface with external system engineering companies including wind OEMs, renewable energy producers and integrated electrical systems suppliers.
- Will be required to provide input into HAZOP / HAZIDs.
Key Skills & Knowledge
- Degree qualified, chartered status beneficial but not essential.
- Experience in energy projects during FEED or detailed design – hydrogen project experience essential.
- Previous experience of working as part of a Client or PMC team essential.
- Previous site experience in conjunction with a design background beneficial.
- Experience in relevant design standards and protocols.
