A leading utility company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SHEQ Advisor to join its team at Barking or Potters Bar. The successful candidate will be crucial in ensuring their operations' health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance through professional advice and solutions. This permanent, full-time position has a competitive salary and benefits, and it will involve travel to London and the home counties inside the M25.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide the management team with professional advice and guidance on all health, safety, quality, and environmental matters.
  • Develop and implement company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and prepare reports with recommendations for preventative measures.
  • Conduct training and awareness sessions for employees to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Monitor and review the company's SHEQ management system's effectiveness and make necessary improvements.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and suppliers on SHEQ matters and ensure compliance with their requirements
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in legislation and industry best practices and communicate these to the management team and employees.
  • Prepare and submit relevant SHEQ reports to the management team and clients as required.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH Level 6 or NCRQ Level 6 qualification
  • CSCS certification
  • Working knowledge of HSG47
  • Proven experience as a SHEQ Advisor in the construction industry
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, quality, and environmental legislation and best practices
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and demands
  • Willingness to travel between Barking and Potters Bar as required
