We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Secondary School Design Technician to join our dynamic Visual and Performing Arts team at a well-regarded secondary school in Lewisham. The ideal candidate will support teachers across a range of disciplines, including Art, Photography, Product Design, Food, and Textiles, by assisting with the preparation and creation of resources, as well as maintaining and managing equipment and materials.
Key Responsibilities Secondary School Design:
- Resource Preparation & Display Creation: Assist teachers with the preparation of teaching materials and displays for the classroom.
- Stock Audits & Orders: Conduct regular stock audits, process orders, and manage deliveries.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and clean machinery and equipment, including band saws, laser cutters, sewing machines, heat presses, and digital printers.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow and ensure compliance with COSHH and CLEAPSS regulations, particularly in the food department.
- Routine Maintenance: Change extraction filters, maintain over lockers, and perform deep cleans of ovens and fridges.
- Laundry: Manage duties for food and textiles rooms.
- Laser Cutter Expertise: Confident use of laser cutters and supporting software for product design and other creative processes.
Essential Skills and Experience of Secondary School Design Technician:
- Previous experience working in a school environment.
- A degree in a relevant subject.
- Solid knowledge of health and safety regulations, including COSHH & CLEAPSS.
- Experience using and maintaining technical equipment, particularly in food and design technologies.
- Familiarity with laser cutters and their associated software.
