Company Overview:We are lucky to be working with growing Managing General Agent looking for their next Head of Underwriting Operations. They are scaling rapidly and looking for a hands-on individual to take on a key leadership role within underwriting operations. This is an exciting opportunity to be deeply involved in multiple facets of the business, from underwriting to product development, and to make a real impact on their growth trajectory.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Head of Underwriting Operations to lead and develop the underwriting team in a thriving MGA. In this role, you will manage a small team and work across multiple business functions, with a primary focus on property and liability policies. You will be the key referral point for the underwriting team, ensuring that property and liability matters are handled efficiently and effectively. This position requires a candidate with experience in an MGA environment, with a strong background in underwriting operations, broker relationship management, and product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the underwriting team, providing guidance and support to 2-3 team members.
  • Act as the primary referral point for underwriting matters, specifically for property and liability policies.
  • Manage and nurture broker relationships, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.
  • Lead capacity meetings and participate in business strategy discussions to align underwriting goals with company growth.
  • Oversee underwriting operations, improving efficiency and maintaining a high standard of service.
  • Work across business departments to develop new products and refine existing ones.
  • Contribute to the process-side of the business, ensuring smooth operations and compliance.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in underwriting, with a strong focus on property and liability policies.
  • Experience working within an MGA environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to support and guide a small team.
  • Excellent broker relationship management and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting operations and capacity management.
  • Experience in product development and process improvement within the underwriting space.
  • Willingness to travel to London as needed.
