Operations Manager - Life & Protection Insurance (Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Discretionary Bonus)

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to join our growing team and support the strategic expansion of our high-value life and protection insurance division. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leadership role in a rapidly growing team with plans to double turnover within the next five years. Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Team Director to drive business growth and operational excellence across the team.
  • Manage relationships with key third parties, such as insurers, medical service providers, and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensure the highest standards of client experience are maintained at all stages of the process, from initial contact through to post-sale support.
  • Optimize team productivity by ensuring smooth processes for underwriting, minimising delays and bottlenecks.
  • Monitor ongoing business operations, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of services across all stages.
  • Take a proactive role in recruitment, talent management, and workforce planning to support team growth and operational needs.
  • Oversee daily team operations, manage training and development needs, and conduct regular one-on-one meetings with the Team Director.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal departments, including compliance, accounting, and marketing, to ensure smooth collaboration.
  • Track team performance metrics and provide regular updates on achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience in line management, with a focus on recruitment, coaching, training, and team motivation.
  • Strong track record in project management, with successful execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Experience optimizing back-office systems and improving operational processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of the life insurance industry and the intricacies of underwriting and client service.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with an analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to influence and manage conflict effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business management tools.
  • Experience in generating significant business growth and driving operational efficiency.
  • Supervisory experience within an Independent Financial Advisory (IFA) setting.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards, including Training & Competence (T&C) schemes.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Financial Planning or similar qualification.
