Claims Broker - Canadian Property

Join an experienced team as a Claims Broker, handling a wide range of claims across multiple lines of business from first notification to settlement. The role involves managing complex claims, negotiating with underwriters, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and produce new claims files, ensuring completion in line with defined standards.
  • Review and assess more complex claims, anticipating potential issues and deciding on the required action.
  • Process, monitor, and reconcile bordereaux files.
  • Provide underwriters with a comprehensive précis of claims.
  • Respond to complex questions from underwriters accurately and efficiently.
  • Review and assess underwriters’ comments, making informed decisions.
  • Negotiate with underwriters on comments using claim knowledge and experience.
  • Process claim settlements, ensuring prompt receipt of payments and reconciliation of accounts within agreed timeframes.
  • Expand knowledge of policies and their implications for claims handling.
  • Reconcile funds and accounts, investigating discrepancies as needed.
  • Provide regular feedback to the Claims Manager on claim portfolios, statuses, and processing volumes.
  • Review and provide feedback on the work of junior team members.
  • Escalate contentious issues or complex claims to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with FCA guidelines and internal procedures, maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborate with claims colleagues, accounts, and brokers to ensure the timely production of documentation and maintenance of systems.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with underwriters, adjusters, TPAs, attorneys, clients, and industry peers.
  • Stay informed on market trends and developments through networking, client meetings, conferences, and industry publications.
  • Record and track Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
  • Use specialised claims systems such as ECF, IMR, Lineage, and internal systems.
