My client are seeking a dedicated Legal Billing Coordinator to join their Costs department within the Finance team. This role is crucial for managing controlled work (Legal Help) billing, primarily for the Housing department, but also supporting other departments as needed. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with LAA regulations and maintaining efficient billing processes.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Billing and submitting Legal Help (controlled work) files to the LAA.
  • Utilising electronic time reports and cross-referencing with the case management system (Proclaim) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Preparing bills for both fixed fee and escape cases.
  • Managing the monthly submission upload of controlled work billing and Matter Start report via CWA.
  • Generating electronic bundles in support of escape cases for submission to the LAA.
  • Handling the assessment of bills and liaising with Fee Earners regarding appeals.
  • Posting bills on the ledger, managing write-offs, and liaising with the file closing team for matters to be closed.
  • Maintaining an updated record of controlled work billing with an Excel report, ensuring adherence to both internal and LAA deadlines.
  • Preparing monthly reports for senior management and finance.
  • Collaborating closely with team members, assisting with other tasks, and providing cover as necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to advise fee earners of all levels on billing matters.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
