Senior Specialist Underwriter - Buy-to-Let (BTL) - Up to £85kLocation: Hybrid (3 days in office)Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 (dependent on experience)Bonus: At least 30% annual bonusBenefits: Private healthcare, Life insurance (X4 times your average salary including bonus)Role Overview:We are seeking a Senior Specialist Underwriter to join a growing Buy-to-Let (BTL) team. This is a critical role designed for a seasoned underwriter with deep experience in complex, unregulated BTL cases. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years' underwriting experience, specifically handling large loans, portfolios, and complex asset structures such as multiple properties or Ltd company portfolios. If you have a background in private banking or bridging finance, this would be advantageous but not essential.As part of a high-performing, tight-knit team, you will report directly to senior leadership and play a key role in expanding the company’s presence in the more complex BTL space. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional with a “can-do” attitude who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in complex underwriting decisions.Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwriting complex Buy-to-Let (BTL) loans, including large portfolios and multi-property deals, for unregulated cases.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to review and approve large loan applications.
  • Provide expertise on structuring loans for complex asset types, such as multiple properties or Ltd company portfolios.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the BTL division, focusing on high-value loans and portfolios.
  • Collaborate with the underwriting team and other departments to ensure smooth loan processing.
  • Maintain high standards of risk assessment and decision-making within the business’s lending criteria.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and “can-do” culture within the team.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years' underwriting experience, with a strong background in unregulated Buy-to-Let.
  • Experience with large loan underwriting, specifically multi-property portfolios and Ltd company structures.
  • Strong decision-making abilities and a proactive attitude towards complex cases.
  • A background in private banking or bridging finance is a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management and the ability to handle high-value, complex transactions.
  • A self-starter with a willingness to take ownership and get involved with all aspects of the underwriting process.
  • An ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, growing business environment.
