A&H Assistant Underwriter (PA & Travel)

A&H Assistant Underwriter with a focus on PA and Travel segments. You will be a key part of the London team and will work alongside them to build a profitable portfolio. You will use your technical underwriting skills and market relationships to contribute to the growth of the Accident and Health line and will work as part of a supportive team.

You will;

Assist in the underwriting and processing of allocated new business, renewals, and endorsements accordingly.

Liaise and participate at meetings with brokers, internal departments, and external advisers.

Build good working relationships with all internal stakeholders and clients.

Work with clients and develop books of business.

Ensure clear communication to underwriting management on appropriate issues.

Ensure processing of new and renewal business and endorsements to agreed service standards.

Organisation of client accounts.

Provide general assistance to underwriters by running monitoring reports, ensuring broker access, managing meetings and diaries etc.

Work in conjunction with the team to ensure efficient working practices are in place and ensure consistently accurate processing by adopting the right first-time principle (100% data quality checking prior to booking).

Monitor industry and specific account trends through reading of the national and international press as well as insurance sector publications.

Assist underwriters and actuaries with pricing for strategic accounts.

Analyse performance monthly or quarterly for each strategic account.

Review data for strategic accounts and the portfolio to identify trends.

Produce quarterly performance reports for each strategic account.

Assist with data and reports for annual business plan and outwards RI pack.

Perform research and development activities for new initiatives.

You MUST have

Previous Accident & Health insurance experience - 2+ years and will be an experienced UA looking to step into an AU role or an AU looking to grow your career.

Analytical experience required.

Demonstration of practical and common-sense approach to dealing with situations.

Strong attention to detail, administration skills, file keeping and effective organisation.

Wording skills - understanding of Accident & Health products and endorsements.

Understanding of consumer duty and its application to the management of existing and new products.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Ability to review submissions while conducting appropriate research to determine degree of risk for each account.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a team-oriented approach.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong time management.

Effective relationship management to initiate opportunities for cross-selling offered products and ensuring account retention.

Competent computer skills - must include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook as a minimum.

Working knowledge of insurance underwriting and reporting systems (PPL, Whitespace and Power BI) would be useful.

Expected to undertake training/progressing through professional examinations.
