Are you a sharp, commercially minded Credit Underwriter with a background in banking or financial services? Do you have hands-on experience reviewing annual accounts, financial statements, cashflows, and forecasts—and confidence making lending decisions?

We’re looking for someone just like you to join our market-leading banks growing Credit team.

?? About the Credit Underwriter Role

You’ll be underwriting corporate and SME clients across the UK and Ireland, supporting them in funding their insurance premiums through smart, tailored finance.

In this hybrid role, you’ll have delegated authority to approve transactions up to £200K, working closely with internal teams to assess and structure good-quality lending at acceptable risk.

?? Responsibilities - Credit Underwriter

  • Assessing the creditworthiness of new business across a wide range of industries.
  • Analysing annual accounts, management information, forecasts, and cashflow projections.
  • Using your judgment alongside internal credit scorecards to make balanced, risk-aligned decisions.
  • Working with our Sales team to provide clear feedback and support strong proposals.
  • Referring higher-risk or complex deals upwards with clear credit recommendations.
  • Participating in calls with brokers and clients to gather critical info for robust decisions.
  • Coaching junior colleagues and contributing to process improvements.
  • Supporting governance and compliance, including FCA regulatory standards.

�? Skills & Experience - Credit Underwriter

  • Experience in commercial underwriting within a banking or financial services environment.
  • Proven track record assessing financial statements, cashflows, and forecasts.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of credit risk principles.
  • Delegated loan sign-off experience (or ready to step into it).
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within SLAs in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Knowledge of loan documentation and credit security would be advantageous
