Location: City, London (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £60 - 75k Basic (dependent on experience)

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Head of Underwriting / Senior Life Insurance Underwriter to join our client, a leading provider of HNW financial solutions, to specialise in underwriting high value life cover, income protection, and critical illness policies.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of handling high-value premiums, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to make sound underwriting decisions. Attention to detail, high-level grammar skills, and the ability to communicate complex information with clarity and precision are essential in this role.
As business volumes expand, you will lead a team of underwriters, acting as a mentor and helping with their development.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Minimum of four experience as a life insurance underwriter, with a strong focus on life cover, income protection, and critical illness.
• Ideally hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Finance, Insurance, or Business) or equivalent work experience. Relevant underwriting certifications (e.g., CII, Dip CII) are a plus.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of high-value premium underwriting, risk assessment, and industry regulations. • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on grammatical precision and clarity in documentation and client communications.
• Analytical Ability: Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a proven ability to handle complex and high-risk cases effectively.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in documentation, premium calculations, and policy terms.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
• Familiarity with reinsurance practices.
• Prior experience mentoring or training junior underwriters
