Portfolio: SME - Contractors Liability (Security, Cleaning, Electrical, Contractors, Recruitment, and other trades)

Focus: Deliver underwriting excellence to support a diverse range of well-managed contractors, from sole traders to large companies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a wide range of premiums (£1,000 - £100,000 GWP) across UK SME business
  • Handle approximately 600 new business enquiries per month
  • Review and analyse presentations and proposals from brokers
  • Underwrite risks within defined authority levels and in compliance with underwriting licenses
  • Issue quotations to brokers, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing
  • Enter risk information accurately into relevant systems
  • Build and develop strong relationships with brokers to drive growth and support business objectives.
  • Negotiate effectively to secure new business while maintaining underwriting integrity

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4+ years’ experience in Casualty underwriting, with a focus on contractors’ liability
  • Deep understanding of SME and contractor risks across a wide range of trades
  • Proven track record of developing new broker relationships and exceeding new business targets
  • Strong negotiation skills, coupled with excellent communication abilities
  • Detail-oriented and well-organised, with the ability to handle high volumes of enquiries efficiently
