Location: London (hybrid working after training) 

PURPOSE OF ROLE 

We're engaged with a reputable insurance firm who is looking for an experienced Private Clients Development Underwriter to join their team. This role offers the chance to help develop the Mid/High-Net-Worth Market and guide junior team members.

You will be responsible for developing, negotiating, and underwriting new and existing private client business, while building strong relationships with brokers to support business growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Underwrite new business and renewal risks within delegated binding authorities
  • Engage directly with insurers for technical referrals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key trading partners
  • Manage MTAs, cancellations, and general referral inquiries
  • Contribute to the creation and execution of sales campaigns
  • Serve as a technical reference to support Underwriting Teams, Junior Colleagues, and Account Managers
  • Assess the impact of claims and risk management on case performance and adjust underwriting accordingly

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • CII DIP CII or ACII

EXPERIENCE 

  • Extensive prior underwriting experience
  • Solid knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements

SKILLS 

  • Strong sales mindset with the ability to build relationships and develop close rapport with brokers
  • Ability to learn and adapt to change
  • High level of numeracy, analytical, and literacy skills
  • Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Effective communication abilities
