Main Purpose of the Job
Lead the development and implementation of an integrated Communications strategy to support Marketing, Student Recruitment, and broader business objectives. Develop and articulate the Establishment's brand story through various communication channels to engage staff, students, and external stakeholders.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Lead and manage all communications activities, including media relations and press management.
- Oversee social media activities to ensure a vibrant and engaging strategy.
- Provide strategic advice on reputational events and lead their organization and implementation.
- Develop and deliver an internal communications strategy.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure an integrated approach to communications and events.
- Manage the Communications and Events teams, setting objectives and managing performance.
- Deliver targets, plans, and budgets on time.
- Devise a media relations strategy to enhance the Establishment's profile.
- Manage relationships with external agencies.
- Produce engaging written content for various communications and marketing materials.
- Report on media activity and ensure a rigorous evaluation system.
- Ensure excellence in social media practice.
- Plan and manage budgets effectively.
- Work with stakeholders to develop future communications and events strategies.
- Participate in cross-establishment working groups and committees.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Degree level education or equivalent.
- Successful leadership of a communications function.
- Experience in strategic reputational events planning.
- Experience in leading high-impact change projects.
- Financial planning and budget management skills.
- Experience in leading and mentoring a team.
Desirable Criteria:
- Master's level education.
- Extensive experience in higher education communications.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks in higher education.
