A Studio Lead job is now available in East London. This is key role in the company's plans for growth, offering the opportunity to lead a team, managing resourcing and workflow and implementing operational strategies within the design department. Salary of up to 70,000 DOE.

The practice has over ten years of experience working across a variety of projects including residential, commercial, and Build To Rent. Their services include interior design, FF&E, furnishing and procurement for private clients and developers.

They are currently looking for a highly organised and driven individual to lead their interior design team. The successful candidate will help direct the creative direction of projects and will also be in charge of implementing and managing processes to increase productivity and profitability. This role requires a balance of hands-on design, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration experience.

Role & Responsibilities

- Leading, mentoring and managing the design team, fostering a collaborative and creative working environment

- Collaborating with the Directors to define and execute the company's strategic goals and objectives

- Overseeing the recruitment, training, and development of the team

- Establishing and communicating a clear design vision aligning with the company's brand and strategic goals

- Effectively managing resource and workflow across the design studio

- Taking lead on all new tenders - resource management, managing process and timescales, and ensuring all deliverables are met

- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients

- Managing contract and fee negotiations, ensure obligations are properly communicated

- Overseeing all design phases, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and budget

- Working with the design team to develop/present design concepts to clients

- Overseeing the development and management of project budgets, and pricing documents

- Providing guidance and support to the design team

- Representing the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings to enhance its reputation and expand its network

- Translating strategic plans into actionable and measurable initiatives

- Supporting the Directors with Business Development; seeking out new business opportunities, developing relationships, and pitching where required

- Monitoring and evaluating operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions

- Evaluating the efficiency of business procedures, agree organisational objectives and apply improvements

- Developing and implementing operational strategies, policies, and procedures

- Overseeing procurement processes and seeking efficiencies.

Required Skills & Experience

- Proven experience working as a Studio Lead, Associate or equivalent position

- A minimum of 15 years of interior design experience

- Experience working in the hospitality, BTR or commercial residential sectors is preferred

- Ability to manage multiple design projects and teams

- A passion for design, art and aesthetics, with good knowledge of suppliers, product and finishes

- Outstanding knowledge of interior architecture / design, with a keen eye for detail

- Ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities and experience

- Outstanding communication and people skills

- Excellent decision-making and negotiation skills

- Strong organisational and time-management skills

- Experience in implementing systems and processes enhancing productivity and profitability

- Knowledge of industry's legal rules and guidelines

- Proficiency in software AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office preferred.
