Senior Server + Storage Specialist - SW London

Senior Server + Storage Specialist required for a leading client based in SW London. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in server, storage, and cloud technologies, you will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction, design, and comprehensive management of our clients server, storage, and backup technology stack, ensuring alignment with the broader IT strategy. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality, reliable, secure, and highly available services across the organisation.

As a member of the server and storage specialist team, you will assist in defining, developing, and enforcing best practices and standards.

Key skills -

  • Extensive knowledge of Server technologies including physical and virtual servers (Essential)
  • Knowledge of Operating System deployment and management including Windows Server, Linux / GPFS
  • Experience of VMWare technologies including VCenter, vSphere, HA/DRS.
  • Practical Knowledge of SAN/Storage technologies
  • Knowledge of SQL Server infrastructure
  • Knowledge of IT backup standards, policies and procedures with experience of implementing these within a large user environment
  • Good operational knowledge of server firewall configuration and server security/hardening
  • Windows System administrator
  • `Linux / Cloud knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of the concepts, technologies, and advantages of cloud computing.
  • Understanding of the well-architected framework and cloud architecture best practice
  • Practical experience of deploying and managing cloud resources using IaC.
  • Knowledge of VMware cloud on AWS (VMC on AWS) and supporting technologies such as HCX and NSX
  • Experience of working with highly technical specialists to deliver high quality services across a large user base environment
  • Knowledge of Cluster Computing technologies
