Senior Pensions Administrator

Certain Advantage are hiring for a Senior Pensions Administrator based in London.

This role is on a 2-year contract basis and is hybrid.

The role

The role involves handling complex member queries, providing support to colleagues within the UK Trustee Services Unit (TSU), and working collaboratively with teams based in London and Krakow to deliver exceptional pension administration services to the Trustee, the Company, and members. The role will also require assisting the Operations Team Leader in managing outstanding cases and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and service level agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and execute the administration of complex and non-standard pension workflows, including retirement, divorce, and transfer cases.
  • Address complex member queries, including those related to Lifetime and Annual Allowance, SSPP, and other pension-related issues, especially those requiring deep specific or pension knowledge.
  • Provide support and back-up for other Senior Pensions Administrators, offering flexibility with work during periods of absence.
  • Assist the Operations Team Leader in managing case progress, ensuring that all cases are handled in line with legislation and Trustee-set service level agreements.
  • Work closely with the pension administration team in Krakow to provide a seamless service across the organisations pension schemes.
  • Take accountability for authorising pension commencement lump sum payments (up to £268,275) and transfer values (up to £1.5 million).

The individual:

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of all UK-linked pension funds.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in pensions legislation and understand how these affect with pension schemes.
  • Assist in implementing changes to pension administration processes as required.
  • Promote and embrace new ways of working and efficiencies across the team.
  • Manage four pension plans with approximately 45,000 members.
  • Oversee annual pension and benefit payments totaling around £900 million.
  • Administer pension assets valued at over £18 billion.
  • Work with multiple currencies as part of the fourth pension scheme, covering more than 30 currencies.
  • Preferably holds a PMI pension administration qualification (e.g., APMI, RPC, CPC).
  • Advanced technical knowledge of defined benefit pension schemes and UK pensions legislation.
  • Proven experience in processing and authorising pension calculations.
