Quest Search & Selection are working with a fast-growing B2B publishing house who are looking for an experienced Deputy Editor to join their growing editorial team to shape the content of a publication focused on the latest news and trends across the marketing & creative sector. These stories include brand insights, the latest campaigns to marketing strategy and digital innovations for companies and agencies alike!

The role includes writing and editing industry news stories and engaging features, representing the company at industry events, attending new agency events, and interviewing senior leaders in the creative and marketing sector.

Key responsibilities of this Deputy Editor role:

  • Drive the strategy & content of the publication
  • Be par to the SLT within the Editorial and Content team
  • Research, source, and write news stories for the digital news publications that would be engaging to your decision-making audience.
  • Own the direction, tone and compliance of stories, op-ed and feature.
  • Someone who is not afraid to push back if not of the best interests of the readers of the publication
  • Pitch and write features on the most exciting new innovation, trends and stories in the marketing sector
  • Manage and help develop one direct report, editing and providing feedback on their work
  • Conduct interviews and build strong relationships with senior business leaders
  • Use SEO and social media strategies to maximise online visibility of content
  • Represent company at industry events and maintain a network of industry contacts.

Key requirements of this Deputy Editor role:

  • Ideally having 4+ years of journalism experience and a portfolio of published articles.
  • You must be operating at a Senior Journalist, Associate or Deputy Editor level
  • Experience working in a B2B or trade publication.
  • If you have led a small team this is desirable
  • Experience in covering marketing, tech or creative stories is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Able to generate interesting content ideas that will resonate with our online audience.
  • Excellent writing, proof-reading and editing skills.
  • Digital publishing skills - Google Analytics and WordPress (or other CMS).
  • Familiarity with social media best practise and SEO techniques.
