Quest Search & Selection are working with a fast-growing publishing house who are looking for an experienced Editor to join their growing editorial team to shape the content of the publication.

Their mission is to keep grocery retailers, suppliers, and service providers informed and ahead of the curve in this continuously evolving sector.

In this Editor role you will lead a team of journalists with the daily newsletter and online content of this digital publication. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding in editing in the B2B led media outlet, excellent editorial skills, and the ability to engage with industry leaders and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of this Editor role:

  • Oversee the content strategy, planning, and execution for the digital publication.
  • Manage and mentor a team of two journalists, ensuring high-quality, timely, and relevant content.
  • Ensure all content aligns with our editorial standards and brand voice.
  • Manage and help develop journalists and editing and providing feedback on their work
  • Conduct interviews and build relationships with senior business leaders
  • Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to align editorial content with business goals and audience needs.
  • Analyse readership data and feedback to continuously improve content strategy and audience engagement.
  • Research, source, and write news stories for the digital news publication
  • Build and maintain relationships with key industry figures, including grocery retailers, suppliers, and trade associations.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and press conferences to gather information, network, and represent the publication.
  • Write, edit, and commission articles, features, and reports on industry trends, news, and insights.
  • Stay updated on industry developments to identify and cover emerging trends and stories.
  • Use SEO and social media strategies to maximise online visibility of content
  • Represent company at industry events and maintain a network of industry contacts.

Key requirements of this Editor role:

  • Ideally having 5+ years of journalism experience and a portfolio of published articles.
  • 2 years' experience as an Editor, Sub-Editor or Deputy Editor etc
  • Experience working in a B2B or trade publication.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Journalism ,English, Law or Communications is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of the grocery industry and its key players is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience managing a team and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with digital content management systems and multimedia tools
  • Digital publishing skills - Google Analytics and WordPress (or other CMS).
  • Familiarity with social media best practise and SEO techniques.
