Job Purpose

The editor is responsible for editing and processing content supplied by internal and external authors, and compiling weekly eAlerts. Working closely with the Content teams, the editor tags the content correctly and checks it thoroughly so that it can be processed efficiently through the content management system. The editor also ensures that the quality of the published product is high and any identifies any improvements required.

The team is looking for an individual who is confident with technology and who can adapt to manipulating content using XML-based editing software in a content management system.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Using editing software to tag content in line with author/development editor/content manager instructions, ensuring that content can be processed correctly in the content management system for online publication.
  • Checking content for spelling, grammar and editorial errors, adhering to the company's house style.
  • Monitoring quality of published content to ensure that it has published as expected.
  • Compiling weekly eAlerts to send out to subscribers.
  • Constantly reviewing progress against schedules and prioritise work accordingly, liaising with colleagues as necessary.
  • Providing regular feedback to the editorial manager and development editors regarding supplied content, to ensure that the editorial approach remains consistent and improvements are put in place as required.
