There is an exciting new opportunity in healthcare news reporting for a news editor on a 12 month contract, 1 day a week in Oxfordshire, 4 days WFH.
The role involves running the news room, updating news content daily, developing sources to write 2 or 3 exclusive and original stories a day and managing the freelancers. You need to come from a fast paced, news room background and be used to communicating with doctors; able to stories on a range of topics which will interest the medical profession, from the latest treatment and therapies, medical and scientific developments, news in the pharmaceutical sector and issues affecting the NHS, to exclusives on careers and training.
You must have an existing network of contacts in the healthcare sector in order to break stories that will interest more than 50,000 doctors daily. A NCTJ qualification is also absolutely essential.
Key Requirements:
- Journalism qualification and healthcare news reporting experience
- The contacts to break exclusive news in medical and scientific developments
- Strong research and investigative skills
- Experience in newspaper or medical press reporting/journalism in a fast paced, news room environment
- MUST have a NCTJ
- Ability to edit other writers’ work and to manage freelancers.
